A Disappointing Business Class Experience with ANA

Flying business class should be a comfortable experience, but that wasn’t entirely the case for a recent passenger on ANA flights NH836 (Jakarta-Tokyo) and NH835 (Tokyo-Jakarta). While service and food were decent, the lack of lie-flat seats and other shortcomings made the journey less enjoyable.

Lack of Comfort on Jakarta-Tokyo Flights

No lie-flat seats on these flights made resting difficult, especially with early morning and midnight departures. The small entertainment monitor and minimal storage space further added to the inconvenience. While food and service were acceptable, meal variety was limited.

Meal Quality on Tokyo-Honolulu Route

Although lie-flat seats were available on this route, the lactose-free meal was disappointing. Tough chicken was served repeatedly as a snack, salad, and main dish. Frustrated with the lack of variety, the passenger eventually chose a regular meal and took a lactose tablet instead.

Key Highlights from the Review
  • No lie-flat seats on Jakarta-Tokyo routes.
  • Small monitor and limited storage in business class.
  • Repetitive lactose-free meal options.
  • Service and food were generally acceptable.
Final Thoughts

ANA provided good service, but the absence of lie-flat seats and uninspiring meal options made the experience underwhelming. Business class should offer both comfort and quality, but these aspects fell short on this trip.
